Plum Cream Cheese Danish
Flaky, creamy and beautiful plum puff pastry tarts, with honey and a hint of vanilla. So simple and yet so delicious!
Ingredients
- 1 sheet frozen puff pastry - thawed
- 4 oz. cream cheese, softened - 113 grams
- 2½ tablespoons honey
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 3 medium plums - sliced
- 1 large egg+1 tablespoon water - (egg wash)
- sanding sugar - optional for topping
Instructions
- Let the puff pastry thaw on the counter for about 30-40 minutes. It should still be cold but you should be able to unfold without breaking it.
- Preheat the oven to 400°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a bowl, add in the cream cheese, honey and vanilla extract. Mix with a spoon or whisk until it's smooth.
- Divide the dough into 9 squares (3 by 3 inches) with a pizza or pastry cutter. You can also use a sharp knife. Place the squares on the lined baking sheet.
- Using a knife, score about ¼ inch border around the sides. Do not cut completely through the dough. This way the edges will puff up nicely, and the filling will not over flow.
- Whisk the egg with one tablespoon of water and brush the sides of pastries.
- Spread one tablespoon of cream cheese mixture in the center of each pastry. Top it with about 4 slices of plum. Sprinkle the tops and sides with sanding sugar if desired.
- Bake in the preheated oven for about 20-25 minutes, until golden brown.
- You can brush the tops with some more honey. Enjoy!
